The X-program read about several different fields of science and therefore have a strong breadth in their knowledge. The areas include biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and computer science. This breadth also leads to X: ers working in several different areas. It can be about everything from studies of microorganisms and the various processes that take place in them to the development of methods for analyzing vital genes and their regulation. X: ers are skilled in everything related to DNA, RNA and proteins.
The program in Molecular Biotechnology started in 1992 and has been constantly evolving. Many of the courses read by X:ers have a very strong research connection, where the content presented by the lecturers can sometimes be based on their own discoveries in research.
